How the online Qibla finder calculates direction
Qibla is the direction toward the Kaaba in Masjid al-Haram, Makkah. The calculation uses your latitude and longitude with the fixed coordinates of the Kaaba, then applies spherical trigonometry to find the initial great-circle direction. This accounts for the Earth’s curvature instead of treating a flat map as a straight surface.
The result is referenced to true north. A phone’s magnetometer can be affected by nearby objects and magnetic declination, so visual sensor movement should be checked in a clear area. For a permanent mosque or prayer-room alignment, confirm the direction with a qualified surveyor or trusted local authority.

What is the Qibla direction?

Why is the compass arrow moving or unstable?
Phone magnetometers react to metal, magnets, speakers and electrical equipment. Move to a clear space, hold the device flat and calibrate it with a figure-eight motion.
Can I find Qibla without a phone compass?
Yes. Location is enough to calculate the direction relative to true north. Use the displayed dial with a physical compass, a known north reference or a locally verified mosque alignment.
Does Global Salah store my location?
